Nailing the Perfect Teacher's Gift With a Simple Questionnaire

How does Teacher Appreciation Week sneak up on us every single year? Or why do teacher holiday gifts seem so overwhelming? Teachers work hard. REALLY hard. But finding the perfect gift to show our appreciation isn't always as easy as it sounds. Pinterest is full of cute, but not great teacher gift ideas. So what do you do if you want to give a cute AND useful AND personalized gift that your teacher will enjoy, but you can’t stalk their amazon wishlist or follow them around in Target?

First, I would start by thinking of them as a person first and teacher second. Teacher gifts don’t have to be school themed and they don’t have to be entirely built around a teaching pun (read that again, Pinterest!)

Second, send each teacher a simple Teacher Gift Questionnaire at the beginning of the year and reference it at all the gift giving opportunities. Asking their favorites doesn’t make gift giving any less personal or thoughtful. You don’t have to guess what they like. Just ask!

And trust me…teachers don’t need another mug, as cute as it looks all wrapped up.

Let’s get creative and find gifts that say “I see you, I appreciate you, and I want to make your day brighter.”

Here are 8 questions to get you started finding the perfect gift for your teacher:

Please answer the questions below to help us get to know you better! Feel free to list specific brands and multiple items for each!

1. My favorite restaurants are…

2. In the morning I drink…and in the afternoon I drink…

3. For fun, I like to/my hobbies are…

4. My favorite colors are…

5. My favorite flowers are…

6. Snacks and/or desserts I like are…

7. I love gift cards to…

8. I do/do not have food allergies/dietary preferences…

Something else I would like you to know is…

These questions will help you buy the right gift cards, add personal wrapping touches, and surprise them with their favorite treats. Remember, the objective of this questionnaire is to make your gift as personalized and thoughtful as possible, but it is also just a starting point! The best way to show your appreciation is by showing that you care enough to think about what they would like (and maybe also by including gift receipts just in case).

What other questions would you add to the list?

Happy gifting!
